Keep Employee Surveys Relevant & Effective

A healthy employee listening strategy requires regular review of your survey content. Whether it’s a point in time survey (annual engagement) or an ongoing survey (exit, new hire), an annual review ensures your surveys remain effective in guiding meaningful improvements.

  • Relevance: Your organization’s culture, challenges and goals will shift overtime. Ensuring your survey content reflects current priorities is key.

  • Data Quality: Over time you’ll find ways to improve your data. This could mean removing questions that are redundant or not actionable or adding an open-ended question to gain clarity around a specific topic.

  • Keeping it Fresh: Updating your content shows current employees that you care about new or emerging concerns that impact their current environment. This can increase a sense of transparency and help drive employee participation.

While consistency in survey questions is essential for tracking trends and maintaining reliable historical data, it’s equally important to dedicate time each year to review and potentially refresh your survey content. Take time this year to ensure your survey remains relevant, actionable, and aligned with your goals.

Meet the Team

Name: Kristen Romero

Title: Director of Marketing

Homebase: Santa Fe, New Mexico

What is your favorite vacation spot? I love to visit Newport Beach in southern California. I have family there so we visit often and enjoy living the beach bum lifestyle for a few days.

What do you like to do outside of work? I like to spend time outside with my husband and two dogs. We spend our time going for walks, exploring new golf courses, and trying new restaurants. Lately I’ve been having craft nights with friends, and it has been so much fun.

What is your “key driver” in doing what you do? I find marketing to be a fun mix of creativity and structure which keeps me engaged. I like challenging myself to develop new ideas or strategies that will help us make a real difference and drive business outcomes.
