Engagement Survey - Communication Plan

Effective communication is key to driving participation. Focus your communication on three key phases: pre-data collection, data collection, and post-data collection.

Pre-Data Collection

  • Survey Announcement: Start communicating 2-3 weeks before launch. This may vary depending on your organization’s size and how difficult your population is to reach.
  • Previous Actions: Highlight actions taken based on previous survey feedback. This shows employees their input is valued, and their feedback was used.
  • Purpose: Outline the purpose of the survey and how the data will be used.
  • Survey Details: Outline the launch date, how to take the survey and whether it will be a non-confidential, confidential or anonymous.
  • Communication Channels: Use multiple communication channels. This could include townhall meetings, team meetings, emails, intranet, flyers, etc. It’s also very important that senior leadership endorses the survey.

Data Collection

  • Launch Day: Remind employees the survey is open and how long it will be open for.
  • Automated Reminders: Set up automated reminders via the People Element Platform throughout data collection.
  • Manager/Leadership Reminders: Ensure managers/leaders are promoting the survey and driving participation among their teams.
  • Participation Reports: Set up automated participation reports. Consider posting participation by key demographics publicly to create competition.
  • Closing Day: Remind employees the survey is closing with a message directly from the organization.

Post Data Collection

  • Thank Employees: Senior leadership should thank employees for their participation, reiterate the survey’s purpose, and share next steps.
  • Action Planning: Share how the organization plans to act on employee feedback and keep employees updated on action planning progress.

What is your favorite vacation spot? I’m drawn to places with water and wildlife! Cozumel holds a special place in my heart. The amazing reefs are perfect for snorkeling, diving, and exploring new things, and of course, the Mexican food is irresistible. It’s my little paradise where I can slow everything down and unplug.

What do you like to do outside of work? My dogs are basically my sidekicks, and they make the best coworkers too! I love spending time with family and friends—preferably over delicious food and wine! Cooking is a passion of mine and testing out new recipes on my husband. Living in Colorado, I try take advantage of the outdoors, hiking with my dogs, fly fishing, and sporadic attempts at golf. I love diving into a good book, especially thrillers and fiction, or indulging in a true crime podcast. And, binge-watching a good TV show ;)

What is your “key driver” in doing what you do? What drives me is the chance to collaborate with different people and find creative ways to meet needs. I thrive on solving problems and using data to make better decisions. I’m a believer that every challenge has a solution, especially when open to new ideas and perspectives.
